OMTech Laser File FAQ
What software do I use with an OMTech laser?
LightBurn is the standard choice and talks to the Ruida controller in every current OMTech machine over USB or Ethernet. OMTech ships RDWorks in the box, but almost every owner moves to LightBurn. Both import the SVG and DXF files on this site directly.
Do I need to convert these files for OMTech?
No. Import the SVG or DXF straight into LightBurn, assign layers for cut versus engrave, set power and speed, and send it to the machine. No conversion step and no redrawing.
What can an OMTech CO2 laser cut that a diode laser cannot?
Clear and coloured acrylic, thicker hardwood, leather, glass and stone engraving, and most fabrics. Diode lasers cannot cut clear acrylic because the blue light passes straight through it. A 60W CO2 cuts 6mm acrylic and 10mm plywood comfortably.
Are these files free for commercial use with an OMTech?
Yes. All files are free for personal and commercial use with no attribution required. Cut products and sell them without restriction. Reselling the digital files themselves is not permitted.
Which OMTech models do these files work with?
All of them. The files are plain vector geometry, so they are independent of machine model or wattage — the Polar, Pronto, and the 40W to 150W bed machines all read the same SVG and DXF. Only your power and speed settings change with wattage.
