Made 100 custom pet memorial signs this holiday season
Started as a one-off for a friend, ended up doing 100 orders! Learned so much about batch production and file organization. Happy to share my workflow.

Bamboo cutting board + 2 hours of engraving work = one very happy bride. The detail you can get on bamboo is incredible.
Cricut for vinyl, laser for wood/acrylic. Sounds obvious but the workflow I developed makes them really complementary: I use the laser to cut the substrate shapes, then the Cricut to cut adhesive vinyl overlays with fine detail. Works great for custom signs with lettering โ laser can't do thin serifs in wood cleanly, vinyl can.
Started selling personalized cutting boards on Etsy 4 months ago. At $45โ$85 each with 3-4 hours work including laser time, it's decent side income. My current workflow: 1) Find good end-grain maple boards at restaurant supply stores (~$12). 2) Engrave family name + design on Glowforge. 3) Sand to 220, finish with food-safe walnut oil. 4) Box and ship via USPS Priority. I've done 60+ orders now. Happy to answer questions.
I've been testing Baltic birch from 3 different suppliers and the settings vary wildly. Here is what I found: Baltic Birch from Woodcraft: Full power, 168 speed, 1 pass = clean cut. Baltic Birch from Amazon: Full power, 140 speed, 1 pass sometimes works, 2 passes safer. MDF from Home Depot: 168 speed, full power, 1 pass but watch for fire.
